When: Saturday 25th May 1-4pm

Where: Rogue Residency Studio, Rogue Artists’ Studios, 4 Barrass Street, Manchester, M11 1WP

Cost: £50 per person

Would you like to learn how to weave on a backstrap loom? Whether you would like to develop your creative textile skills or enjoying a mindful and creative afternoon learning the process of weaving using the body, this 3-hour afternoon workshop will show you how to create an individual colourful weave using the plain, tabby and inlay weave technique on a backstrap loom.

Back strap weaving is an Ancient weaving technique where the loom is suspended between the waist of the weaver and a stationary object, such as a table leg or post. On pre warped looms we will weave with sustainable yarn, ribbons and plants to create a colourful and textured loom to take home to hang or use as a textile.

What is included: All textile materials, a pre warped loom for the session, illustrated guidelines for weaving, warping and finishing off weave, list of recommended materials and suppliers post workshop, refreshments during session.

Suitable for ages 14+. Not suitable for those with back or neck issues. Beginners - no previous experience required.

Group is limited to 8 participants for close attention, places are limited.
