Filmed and edited by Jenny Steele, with sound percussion by artist and sound practitioner, Carly Seller.
The loom used in this film is a Rigid Heddle Backstrap Loom created by Raisa Kabir Textiles with Panel Glasgow https://www.wearepanel.co.uk/shop/londons-kitchen-park-royal-loom-weaving-kit
Background locations on both TASSEL and WEAVE films are:
Cove Park, Helensburgh, Dunoon, Isles of Cumbrae and Wee Cumbrae, Argyll, Walney Island, Cumbria and Rogue Studios, Manchester.
TASSEL & WEAVE were made during Rituals for Tomorrow, a research, engagement & production project by visual artist Jenny Steele that identified sustainable ways to use weaving with everyday wild plant life, that supports our wellbeing, connection to nature and sense of belonging.
Working with partners Art Gene, Barrow, Cumbria; Rogue Artists Studios, Openshaw, Manchester and a series of individual creative practitioners, a programme of weaving and wellbeing workshops on each site will worked towards the development of two large scale artworks using local flora.
Rituals for Tomorrow was supported by a Project Grant from Arts Council England.
